Shedding the cold of winter and welcoming the warmth of summer, May is an ideal time to travel in India. Be it the need to beat the heat, or mere lust to travel to new places, our country has its fair share of destinations to head during the summer holidays. So here are the exotic places in India that will fulfill the wandering tendencies in all of us.

1. Meghalaya

Wrapped in a lush green cover, Meghalaya is a beautiful north-eastern state with an unspoilt and untouched scenery. The monsoons add colour to the entire region, thus filling up the waterfalls and adding a dramatic element to the topography. Some of the prominent attractions here include Murlen National Park, Dawki, Baghmara, Nohsngithiang Falls, Umiam lake, Dampa Tiger Reserve and Elephant Falls.
