Tourism Australia organised the 13th edition of its India Travel Mission 2015 (ITM) from 27-30 August, 2015 at Bengaluru. Over 90 Indian travel companies responded positively to this edition of the ITM and the 3-day event saw participation from over 50 Australian products and services. Other participants at the India Travel Mission 2015 included hotels, attractions, state and regional tourism boards, airlines and many more.

An array of new Australian tourism products have entered the market by way of this event this year. Some of the representatives among the first time participants were Mt Buller Alpine Snow Resort, Taronga Zoo, Skydive Australia, Oz Jet Boating Sydney, and Sealink and Captain Cook Cruises. Michael Newcombe, regional general manager, S/SEA and Gulf, Tourism Australia, said, “We would like to thank our Indian travel partners for their overwhelming support in yet another successful edition of ITM. We are optimistic about India’s continued sustained growth as one of Australia’s top inbound markets.”

Nishant Kashikar country manager, India and Gulf, Tourism Australia said India Travel Mission has proved to be a great platform to fortify Australia’s travel trade engagement in India. There has been a noticeable increase in the number of Indian tourists to Australia. According to the latest data, 220,000 Indians travelled to Australia till June 2015, which is a 19 per cent increase for the same period in 2014. India, currently, is Australia’s eighth largest inbound tourism market.
