Why you should consider travelling on your birthday
Out of all the things you’ve done on your birthday, I’m sure travelling never topped the list. But this year, give yourself a break from another wasted night at the bar and plan a trip on your birthday. You can fly away to another country or just take a two-hour drive away from your city; coz travelling never disappoints, does it?
To convince you to ditch your comfort zone and start a journey on your special day from this year onward, here are 6 reasons why you should travel on your birthday.
1. It’s a great opportunity to escape the crowds
As per the birthday tradition, (we don’t know who set this but yes, it’s there) the celebration bill needs to be paid by you and not your friends paying for you on your birthday. So we say, you sneak your way out of this by travelling to someplace as far as possible. This will give you a chance to discover your ‘true friends’ who are willing to be dragged along with you and your travel plans.
2. Birthday discounts await you
The most apt reason for you to travel on your birthday is to grab all the discounts awaiting you. Right from flight tickets to hotel reservations and restaurant hopping, you can avail plenty of discounts on your special day. No matter what you do and where you go on your birthday, just ask for a discount and you might get lucky!
3. It’s easier to get the time off work
Who says a ‘No’ on the birthday? (Are you kidding me? My boss does!) Well, if you plan ahead with your boss and colleagues, and work around your schedule, you are good to go and hit the road on your birthday.
4. You get to meet new people
The most amazing part about travelling is that you get to move out of your comfort zone and meet new people. And the first step towards breaking the ice between you and the new gang could be, you telling the bartender, ‘It’s my birthday’. This might also get you free drinks!
5. Anything you say is the final verdict
The most confusing thing about birthdays is to decide, where to take your friends out (where more than your opinion, your friends’ opinion counts). The easiest escape from this is to travel (probably alone) where you get to decide where to eat, what to do and act like a total brat.
6. You’ll feel less sorry that you’re a year older
Well, they say ‘age is just a number’ but deep down we know how much it hurts to turn a year older. To keep that thought at bay, you can do something completely new in a different setting. This will not only distract you from the fact that you’ve one less year to live, but will also give you new hopes to see your life from a complete different perspective in the coming years.
Birthdays are special, and so are you! So make every bit of an effort, to make this and the coming birthdays of yours an amazing one.
