Once a Portuguese territory, Goa is now a party hub of India. It is a state with sun, sand, sea, beaches and booze; but something that we always miss out on is Goa’s food scene. The state boasts a regional cuisine, which has been influenced by an exotic blend of sea, spices and food-savvy travellers. From laid-back street food sellers to cozy seaside shacks and high-end restaurants, Goa has a vibrant dining scene. Here’s a list of fabulous places to eat, drink and have fun while in Goa.

The place is run by two Indians, namely Mario and Simon who have transformed Ciao Bella over all these years to turn it into a preferred haunt for expats, long-term visitors and discerning domestic diners. Visit the eatery to enjoy a delicious taste of the Mediterranean cuisine, and of course the soft music that plays throughout the evening.

Sakana is a different world in itself, and you have to see it to believe it. The place is designed by an Israeli-Japanese couple Eliko and Mali, who have used Japanese memorabilia to style it as a Japanese inn. Its menu also adds charm to the overall setting, there’s heavenly tuna teriyaki, sushi of various shades, udon and ramen, gyoza and tofu dishes, chicken katsu, beef yakiniku and a delicious wakame salad. The mains are also tantalizing, and their massive portion will feed your tummy and soul for the day.

The well-planned seating, warm hospitality and swift service is what makes this eatery stand out from the rest. Goan food has enriched over the years, earlier by the colonial Portugese and later by the hippies, thus making this blended cuisine a true delight what it is today. So when in Goa, eat like the Goans do, and you will have the gastronomical experience of the lifetime.
