Delhi’s nightlife is varied, but you’ll find the most popular and classiest bars in luxury hotels. These bars attract the creamy layer of New Delhi society. Since there’s a 1 a.m. curfew for most places in Delhi people generally opt for the nearby Noida and Gurgaon pubs to stay out late.

TLR: The Living Room is a fantastic jamming venue for wannabe artistes and genuine talent. Long lacking an informal music destination, this is Delhi’s cool hangout at Hauz Khas, where once the artists start jamming the place soon after gets jam-packed.

Another gem in Delhi’s nightlife crown is the Red Monkey Bar whose tagline reads Monkey dance, monkey drink and it certainly delivers. This Defence Colony hangout is famed for its innovative cocktail drinks and its tasty treats.

Janpath’s dimly-lit @Live Bar and Blues is another favorite music joint among the young crowd.

Dublin at the ITC Sheraton in Chanakyapuri is an Irish themed pub. It also doubles as a disco called Ghungroo. It has the largest selection of single malts in the city and if whiskey is your chosen poison this is a must-visit.

F Bar is a franchise of Fashion TV and short for Fashion Bar. It is an opulent bar where glamour and style dictates the crowd. Located in Chanakyapuri’s esteemed Ashoka Hotel it caters to the elite and the privileged.

Q’BA has a string of establishments across Delhi. The two most centrally located ones are the original Q’BA and @Live, both in Connaught Place. Upmarket Q’BA, with two levels and two open air terraces, has a focus on dining during the day but its bar tops those in the area. @Live is more casual, and wears a more grungy look with exposed brick work. Live music is the feature there. Kick back, relax, and enjoy happy hours from 3 p.m. until 7.30 p.m. at both places.

Agni is an important part of the The Park Hotel and a fav place for Delhi’s party people. Winner of the “Bar with the Best Dancing” by The Times Nightlife Guide it also folds over as a restaurant.

The Zoo goes is a more offbeat destination. Located at the Garden of Five Senses in Said-ul-ajab village it keeps a low profile. But the leafy green surroundings and sparkly dimly lit rooms is strictly an after dinner bar with electronic music and a live DJ on every weekend. A not-miss is the sunset parties on Sundays.

The Lab is an extravagant entrant to the bar hopping scene. The night-club is located in Rani Bagh and is a choicest place to indulge in all the sins and vices (Legal of course). The hotel has lavish surroundings, superb acoustics and spectacular lighting.

Mumbai’s renowned live music venue Blue Frog has also finally made it to Delhi. Located in South Delhi in Mehrauli, it may not be easily accessible but it more than makes up for it in style and musical performance.
