The Jammu and Kashmir tourism department participated in the 3-day India Travel Mart 2015 in Lucknow to promote pilgrimage tourism in the state. The team also organized a road-show during the event to promote all the travel and tourism products offered by Jammu and Kashmir, particularly pilgrimage tourism.

The team was led by Special Secretary of Tourism and Culture M. H. Mir and comprised of Deputy Director Tourism (Central) Kashmir Peerzada Zahoor, Manager JKTDC C. B. Kaul besides other members of various travel associations from Jammu and Kashmir. A video montage of the various pilgrimage sites in Jammu and Kashmir was presented during the road-show, in which a number of domestic buyers, the media and stakeholders participated.

During the event Mir said that the India Travel Mart provided a platform to states that had the potential for tourism to exhibit their products and services in a bid to initiate business opportunities with domestic buyers from across the country. He further stated that the J&K tourism department has started with several promotional activities to promote the many tourism destinations that the state offers. He also urged the media to promote Jammu and Kashmir as a preferred destination for various kinds of tourism like pilgrimage, adventure, heritage, leisure, etc.

The India Travel Mart 2015 saw a large number of domestic buyers visiting the J&K tourism stalls and interactions with tour and travel associations were aplenty. What are your thoughts about the India Travel Mart 2015? Will it help up Jammu and Kashmir’s travel game?
