Hemis Festival

Last in the list of Indian festivals to attend in June, this two day festival is a celebration of the birth of Guru Padmasambhava who founded Tantric Buddhism in Tibet. The Hemis Festival is celebrated at the Hemis Monastery in Leh, and is a vision in beautiful colours, grand masks and booming music. The masked dances performed by the lamas signify the victory of good over evil and are a poignant sight to behold. Indulge in the musical high of cymbals, drums and trumpets and delight in the wonder that is the Hemis Festival.
