There’s more to this world than meets the eye, and these destinations are exactly what emphasizes this fact. This planet that we occupy with all the other creatures of nature and nature herself, is a huge big scary place that is filled with things wonderful and mysterious, scary and incomparable. There are so very many incredible places in the world that command attention and awe. In part one of this post we looked at some of them. Here’s part two of the list of 5 dreamy destinations you must visit before you die!

Glass Beach, USA

Glass Beach, California

Located in California, Glass Beach is exactly what the name suggests. Apparently, in the 1900s, locals from around this beach threw all the garbage and even bits and parts of appliances over the cliff on the beach. The mighty Pacific ocean washed away all the debris, except for bits of glass and pottery which over time smoothed over due to erosion. The result today is a beach strewn with glass of all shapes and colours!

Spotted Lake, Canada

Spotted Lake, Canada

If you happen to look down at the Spotted Lake in Canada, you’ll probably think of craters on the moon. The Spotted Lake is an alkali lake and every summer, the water from this lake evaporates leaving behind mineral deposits. These mineral deposits look like big spots on the lake and the colour of each spot depends on its mineral composition. Looks quite mesmerizing!

Cave of Crystals, Mexico

Cave of Crystals, Mexico

Imagine a bunch of huge crystals haphazardly flung all around you, only inside a cave. Isn’t the effect both eerie and captivating? The Cave of Crystals in Chihuahua, Mexico, is exactly that kind of a cave. It is filled with giant selenite crystals which were formed when magma heated up the gypsum in the cave. As water flooded the caves, the gypsum was converted to crystals, which is what we witness today.

Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia

Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia

Located about 12,000 ft above sea level in the Andes, Salar de Uyuni is one of the flattest landforms in the world. But what makes this landform fascinating is it is covered in a thick layer of salt which when it rains, is covered by a thin film of water. This turns it into a sort of mirror, which is both ginormous and unreal.

Waitomo Glowworm Cave, New Zealand

Waitomo Glowworm Cave, New Zealand

Yes, these caves are infested with glow-worms, but just because it is infested with “worms” doesn’t make it disgusting! On the contrary, being filled with glow-worms has made the Waitomo Glowworm Cave absolutely stunning. Lining the walls of the cave these glow-worms emit bioluminescence, which lights up the entire cave in pulsing blue light.

With so many magnificent places to visit, where are you heading off to first? Which other places would you add to this list of the 5 dreamy destinations you must visit before you die?
