Difficult to master, but oh so yummy. Much like momos, only deep-fried, Karanjis are filled with a sweet coconutty goodness, which is in turn full of dry fruits and nuts. The best thing about Karanjis is that it can be stored for a long time after it is made, which makes it a great after-Diwali snack, too!

Chakri/Chakli

Made to look like a Jalebi but doesn’t taste like it. This spiral of spicy crispiness should be eaten with some hot tea for maximum impact! Made from a whole variety of flours like rice, bengal gram and black gram, Chakri or Chakli is also fun to make!

Shakarpara/Shankarpali

Shakarpara or Shankarpali is one of the easiest to make Diwali snacks. It can be made either sweet or salty, depending on how you like it. These tiny diamond-shaped snacks are not only delicious but are also high in carbs, making them rich sources of energy. Shakarpara is actually a snack available in the market throughout the year, so if you suddenly start craving it, you know you won’t be denied it!

Poha Chivda

This low fat snack is a very famous Maharashtrian snack that complements some adrak chai very well. Made of thin poha tossed with a lot of cashew nuts, peanuts, curry leaves, green chillies and dry coconut slices, Poha Chivda is a must-eat during Diwali!
