There’s a tilt of an axis, a drop in the temperature and everybody’s ready to welcome winters. But if you are like me, who does not want to miss a chance to break away from the cold, consider these 6 destinations across India to find refuge from this weather.

1. Alleppey, Kerala

Set amid enchanting backwaters and natural beauty, Alleepey is a perfect place to escape the winter chill. This destination is popularly known as the ‘Venice of the East’ and has lived up to its name with its unmatched beauty and lush green vistas. Other things that attract tourists to Alleepey is its beaches, temples and Ayurveda spas.

There might not be many reasons to be here in summers, but Rann of Kutch has too many things planned to lure you in winters. This is one of the largest salt deserts in the world and entire Rann comes alive in the months of November, Decemeber and January. Home to Royal Bengal Tiger, this national park is sprawled over an area of 1,334 square kilometres and promises the most enjoyable wildlife experience. Other than tigers, you can spot leopads, chinkaras and over 300 species of birds.

6. Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu

This is a UNESCO World Heritage site, where you can enjoy your winters far away from the chilly winds and dry weather. Owning to its fascinating temples, cave sanctuaries and fine sculptures, Mahabalipuram is a place of interest for those inspired by the history and culture of India. Some of the popular attractions here are The Five Rathas, the Shore Temple and Arjuna’s Penance. Also, sunset is worth watching from this site.
